With no charterers, Marinakis outfit converts 8,800 TEU quartet to tankers
Evangelos Marinakis' Capital Maritime & Trading is reportedly changing orders for four 8,800 TEU container ships to Suezmax oil tanker.

Greek shipping magnate Evangelos Marinakis’ Capital Maritime & Trading is reportedly changing orders for four 8,800 TEU container ships to Suezmax oil tankers, after being unsuccessful at sealing a charterer, according to Alphaliner today.

The ships were originally contracted at South Korean shipbuilder HD Hyundai Samho in December 2025 for US$116.6 million each, and delivery was expected in 2028. However, Hyundai Samho said on 4 March that the order is being altered to Suezmax tankers.
