The company’s strong focus on technology development has resulted in its own proprietary technology for VOC reduction during tanker loading, Knutsen KVOC® Technology, and has developed new technology for ballast water treatment for large tankers. Knutsen has developed its own concepts for Floating Production Storage and Offloading (“FPSO”) vessels and Liquid Natural Gas (“LNG”) vessels, arctic LNG carriers, special vessel for chemicals injection into platform production risers and bunker vessels with dynamic positioning system for offshore supply.

Knutsen is world leading as technology developer within marine transportation of compressed natural gas with its proprietary Knutsen PNG® Technology. This technology is in particular interesting for handling offshore loading and transport of natural gas and gas volumes from well testing as flaring is expected to become more difficult to do.
